HISTORY
Gig, Kyle’s roommate, was mysteriously orphaned on the Edgewood docks at the age of eight. He was adopted by Iker, a Basque fisherman, who was driven to port by fate and a desire to meet women. When the woman thing failed he figured that adopting a child was almost as good. Almost.

With Iker as his guardian, Gig was raised with one foot in the street and the other on the deck of Iker’s boat. If Iker was Gig’s adopted father, then Edgewood was his biological mother. For while he learned craftsmanship (and how to pick up women) from Iker, he learned how to survive from the city.

When the Edgewood Art College came to the city, just like the circus, Gig went. Actually, he probably spent more time at the circus. Gig’s unpretentious approach to art clashed with the ‘modernist’ style of the rest of the students, and they cast upon him the worst pejorative they could contrive: craftsman. Unfazed, Gig dropped out, and was left to spend his days on more romantic pursuits. Pursuits like selling ice cream out of his van, Traveler.

With his career path firmly in place, Gig set about rollicking around Edgewood selling ice cream to the highest bidder. His adventures brought him in contact with the all of the varied residents of the town, and soon everybody in Edgewood either knew Gig or knew of him.

While other “driftwood” bitch and moan about being taken seriously as an artist or finding their place in the world, Gig is not trouble by any such notions. The town is his home and his art is his life. It doesn’t matter that no one takes him seriously, because he doesn’t either.
