HISTORY
Before Sydney ever took her first college art class she had already learned one important thing: that she did not want to be “driftwood”. Sydney, always looking to belong to a group, knew that was one association she had to do her best to avoid.

Thanks to her mother’s ambition and her dad’s alimony payments Sydney grew up in the lap of luxury. The rich kids hated her because she was weird, the poor kids hated her because she was rich and weird. What’s a girl to do? Become as surly as possible - black clothes, sarcasm, irony - all that stuff. The only thing she took seriously was her older brother Pierce, who was everything she wanted to be: he was an artist and he had a friend - Kyle Waxman.

It was quite a shock when Pierce abandoned his dream of attending the nearby Edgewood Art College, instead choosing business school. Stung by this Sydney dedicated herself to becoming an artist, being as far from the mainstream as she could be, and finding a group of people with whom she truly belongs. Sydney decided not to follow Pierce but Kyle instead.

Upon arriving in Edgewood, Sydney has set out to find that special clique with whom she could be truly harmonious. When a school’s population is comprised mainly of people who are intent on at setting themselves apart, this connection is proving more difficult than she imagined.
